Bock at Chillventa 2008 - Energy efficiency and the use of natural refrigerants
Under the slogan “Objects of Desire”, Bock Kältemaschinen
GmbH presented its solutions at Chillventa 2008 in Nuremburg, Germany, from 15
to 17 October.
Over 800 exhibitors and approximately 30,000 visitors
made the first edition of this international trade show for refrigeration, air
conditioning, ventilation and heat pumps a great success.
Heinrich Reuß,
the managing director responsible for sales at Bock, was also pleased with
Chillventa: “Our trade show concept and focusing on energy efficiency and
natural refrigerants really hit the mark at Chillventa. We were also more than
happy with the number of visitors to our stand and the quality of the
conversations we had.”
Bock unveiled numerous new products on its stand
covering more than 200 square metres.
Expansion of the Electronic Frequency Control (EFC/EFCe) series
By adding this new product to its established frequency
converters, Bock offers the most efficient way of adjusting capacity to
particular cooling requirements – including for all semi-hermetic compressors in
the HG series now too.
Like the existing EFC systems, the new EFCe
systems (optional for HG4, HG5, HG6, HG7 and HG8) are also optimally adjusted to
the compressor at the factory and pre-programmed with the necessary control
settings. Due to their size, however, they are not directly on the compressor
but are instead intended to be set up individually.
The EFC/EFCe systems
work consistently at the current power requirement: the precise refrigerating
capacity that is needed is produced for maximum cost-effectiveness. Potential
energy savings of 25% and more are possible!
Frequency control minimises
idle time and smoothes out power fluctuations. This reduces electricity costs
significantly and extends the service life of the system by improving the
running properties.
Expansion of the CO2 product range
In addition to its RKX radial piston compressor, which is also featured in
experimental plants created by numerous partners for both stationary and mobile
applications, Bock presented further sub-critical and trans-critical
CO2 compressor models at Chillventa 2008.
In the area of
sub-critical compressors for operating pressures to 40 bar, Bock has added four
levels of displacement to its range at 40, 50, 110 and 555 cm3.
The range for the HG(HA)2 CO2 T trans-critical compressor has
been extended by levels of displacement of 90 and 130 cm3.
As a result, Bock has one of the broadest offerings of compressors that
use CO2 as refrigerant. In addition, Bock can assist interested
customers thanks to the corresponding compressor expertise the company has
gained in recent years. Bock continues to see great market potential in
CO2 applications and development over the next few years.
ATEX compressors for operation with hydrocarbons
Hydrocarbons were already conventional refrigerants in the 1920s.
Following the introduction of CFCs, however, they almost completely disappeared
from the market.
In the course of the long-running environmental debate
with regard to climate friendly refrigerants, these hydrocarbons are attracting
increasing interest alongside CO2.
Thomas Hagenlocher, the
sales manager responsible for stationary applications at compressor manufacturer
Bock, reports that “As well as conventional deployment in potentially explosive
environments, such as procedural systems in the chemical or petrochemical
industries, our ATEX compressors are now increasingly used with hydrocarbons.”
Bock offers semi-hermetic compressors in a special ATEX version. These
were designed for use in potentially explosive environments and are certified by
TÜV SÜD according to ATEX appliance group 2.
At Chillventa 2008, Bock
presented its range of ATEX compressors for use with hydrocarbons, thereby
giving interested systems manufacturers another alterative to conventional
refrigerants.
Semi-hermetic aluminium lightweight compressors
Based on the successful models of the Pluscom series, Bock
also presented its semi-hermetic HG22P and HG34P models at Chillventa in an
aluminium version for use in mobile applications.
As a market leader in
the area of open aluminium compressors for bus climate control, Bock has decades
of experience in mobile applications, which is reflected in the development of
these new models.
For example, compared with the standard compressors
used in rail applications to date, these new aluminium compressors offer a
potential weight saving of around 40%.
