Bock promotes education and science in refrigeration and air conditioning technology by donating one hundred thousand euros

The new “BFS/ESaK Foundation for the Promotion of Education and Science in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology” was established at a meeting in Maintal on 13 December 2007. Together the 13 founding partners have contributed funds of 250,000 euros.

The BSF/ESaK Foundation is a unique initiative by leading representatives of the refrigeration and air conditioning industry to promote common interests within the sector. The aim of the foundation is to support students completing dissertations, projects and doctoral research, to promote research and development and to sponsor lectureships and chairs at the European Academy of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (ESaK) in Maintal. The procurement of laboratory equipment and Context.Scope.Library resources, as well as teaching and learning aids, is also being supported.

“Through this commitment we want to set a benchmark for our industry. The Foundation will encourage the next generation of highly qualified specialists in the field of refrigeration and air conditioning technology,” says Bock CEO Heinrich Reuß who was elected chairman of the Foundation’s board of trustees at the meeting. He adds, “We are aiming to boost the Foundation’s funding via industry-wide activities so that we can expand the scope of our support.”

As in many industries, the refrigeration engineering and air conditioning sector is increasingly experiencing a shortage of qualified specialist personnel despite great efforts.

Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH, for example, is constantly on the lookout for new employees even with above-average training rates and intensive efforts to attract applicants.

Manfred Seikel, head of the nationwide technical college, is more than satisfied with the launch of the BFS/ESaK Foundation: “I am delighted that so many leading representatives of the German refrigeration/air conditioning industry have agreed to support the foundation right from the start. This is a sign of their confidence in the project itself, as well as a willingness to take action. In future we hope to attract further sponsors and are already looking forward to the projects that will be presented to us for support.”
