Energy Efficiency Made in Germany
In times when fossil fuels are scarce and energy prices are rising all the
time, there is a growing need for new technologies which lower energy
consumption.
Worldwide, the potential energy savings from deploying
innovative technologies in all applications are enormous. Due to ever-rising
energy costs the issue of energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important
both in Germany and internationally.
In particular, energy requirements
in emerging markets are growing rapidly. According to forecasts by the
International Energy Agency (IEA), China’s and India’s energy requirements will
double by 2030, with Russia’s requirement increasing by around a third.

In Germany, primary energy consumption is less than 6.2
gigajoules for every €1,000 of gross domestic product (GDP). In terms of energy
consumption, Germany is therefore one of the most productive industrial nations.
In 2007, primary energy consumption reached the lowest level for more than 25
years although GDP has more than doubled during the same period.
This is
proof of the high level of innovation in the German economy, specifically with
regard to boosting energy efficiency.
Just one example is provided by
Bock Kältemaschinen GmbH, a manufacturer of refrigeration compressors, whose EFC
system provides a solution for energy-optimised compressor control and thereby a
potential energy saving of some 25%.
In order to boost the international
profile of these and other solutions from Bock that increase the energy
efficiency of refrigerating systems, Bock has joined the energy efficiency
initiative set up by the German Federal Ministry of Economics.
The
energy efficiency export initiative will act as an international umbrella brand
for numerous German companies that are active in the field of energy efficient
solutions.
