Premiere at Innotrans –
Bock presented compressor solutions for rail air conditioning
Innotrans 2008, the world's biggest trade show focusing on
rail technology, was held in Berlin from 23 to 26 September.
Some 1,900
exhibitors from 41 countries showcased all aspects of rail technology over
exhibition space totalling 150,000 square metres. In addition, 91 rail vehicles
were displayed on 3.5 kilometres of track.
With 86,519 visitors from
more than 100 countries, visitor numbers were up 20% on 2006.
Bock
Kältemaschinen GmbH was also celebrating a first at this year's Innotrans: the
manufacturer of refrigerant compressors presented its range of rail solutions at
Innotrans for the first time.
For some years now, Bock has concerned
itself extensively with rail air conditioning as an application area.
At
Innotrans, the company presented variants of its semi-hermetic refrigerant
compressors from the Pluscom series developed specifically for this area. These
variants featuring a lightweight construction in aluminium and dual-speed,
two-pin drive motor attracted great interest from the specialist audience.
“Our presence at Innotrans was welcomed by HVAC system providers in
particular, as well as train manufacturers. Over the four days of the show,
promising conversations were held on our stand and we were able to forge
numerous new contacts,” summarises Marcus Reuß, Bock Key Account Manager for
Railway Applications.
The numerous systems and trains on show that
featured Bock refrigerant compressors provided further proof of the company's
success on entering the rail sector. These included the Siemens Velaro RUS, one
of the top trains on show. In future, this train will operate on Russia's first
high-speed rail link between Moscow and St. Petersburg, with climate control
provided by Bock refrigerant compressors.
