• A feel for geometric shapes
• Spatial vision

Enjoyment of scientific subjects
Duration of
training
Training usually lasts 3½ years. If performance is
exceptionally good during training, the examination can be brought
forward.
Training programme
In the first year of your
apprenticeship you will be given sound basic training in mechanics at the GARP
technology centre. There you will learn all the basic skills of metal work, such
as filing, turning and milling. Building on this, you will then acquire all the
rest of the knowledge which is needed to become an engineering draughtsman:
•
The rules and laws of mechanics and electronics
• Drawing and standardising
individual parts and assemblies
• How to use the PC and a variety of office
software
• Using 2D and 3D CAD systems
• Performing calculations and
detailed designs
• Producing lists of parts using the EDP system
•
Attendance of specialist courses in CNC, pneumatics, hydraulics and
more
