Acting responsibly - Bock compressors at the EuroShop 2011
Bock presents compressor solutions for responsible refrigeration and
air-conditioning technology in the trade area at the EuroShop
From 26.2 to 02.03.2011 the international trading world is meeting in
Dusseldorf, Germany. The EuroShop is an industrial highlight and offers the
great chance to find out about recent developments in all areas of the retail
infrastructure.
On more than 200.000 m2 gross exhibition space more than 1.800 exhibitors
from 50 countries and 104.000 experts and visitors from 93 countries got
together at the last EuroShop. For the second time Bock presents its compressor
program for all areas of refrigeration- and air-conditioning technology in the
retail sector at the 17th edition of the EuroShop.
Especially in the area of trade there is a significant trend towards
sustainable solutions to counteract climate change and often lower energy costs
at the same time.
A considerable part of the energy consumption of supermarkets results from
cooling goods and the air-conditioning of the buildings. Therefore it is no
surprise that 14% of the whole energy consumption in Germany is due to the
technical production of refrigeration. An impressive number that makes clear
that the refrigeration- and air-conditioning technology might be one of the
biggest energy consumers, but also has a big energy-saving potential. At the
EuroShop Bock presents compressor solutions that ensure an improved eco-balance
of the markets and at the same time opens up saving potential for system
operators.
Committed to Efficiency
Because good is never good enough when it comes to efficiency, Bock is
working continuously on the development of ist compressors. Those compressors,
optimised for the specific characteristics of R134a, achieve a much higher
efficiency, and therefore the annual capacity of the refrigeration plant can be
significantly increased. As the first compressors in R134a version, Bock
presents models of the type HG5…R134a at the EuroShop.
With the Bock e-series the compressor manufacturer also presents another
development in terms of efficiency optimisation. This new generation of
semi-hermetic compressors is optimised for all standard refrigerants. As a first
model of this series Bock presents the compressor HG34e at the EuroShop. More

Awarded solution – Saving energy with the EFC-System
An essential element of an efficient operation of refrigeration systems is
the regulation of the system according to its requirements. In many cases the
regulation of the compressor via frequency converter results in energy savings
of 25% and more.
With continuous variable speed control the frequency converters adapt the
capacity of the compressor automatically to the current requirements. Therefore
they drastically reduce the energy consumption of systems. Already since 2004
Bock offers with the EFC-System (Electronic Frequency Control) the Plug&Play
system for a frequency converter regulation of the compressor. At the EuroShop
Bock presents this system that was awarded with an innovation price for
refrigeration technology by the German Environmental Minister in December 2009.

The natural solution CO2
In the last few years, the refrigerant CO2 was established in various
applications such as the supermarket sector. A development that will even gain
greater momentum in the next few year. As one of the pioneers of this technology
Bock could gain experience in this area for more than ten years and now presents
at the EuroShop the new 4-cylinder compressor models HG34 CO2 T for the use in
transcritical CO2 applications. More

A natural alternative – Hydrocarbons
Whereas the use of synthetic refrigerants is already limited in some
countries due to their contribution to the greenhouse effect, the trend goes
towards natural refrigerants that are a real alternative to synthetic
refrigerants.
A well-known solution among them – hydrocarbons.
Based on the compressors of the current Bock semi-hermetic program and the
established standard product range, Bock presents at the EuroShop a compressor
version especially for the use with hydrocarbons – compressors in HC-design.
Those compressors are suitable for hydrocarbons and have, compared to
compressors for standard FKW- and HFKW-refrigerants, safety-related
modifications due to the flammability of hydrocarbons. More
